Horsetail, also known as Rough Horsetail or Shave Grass, grows in and around wetlands and is native to North America, Europe and Northern Asia. This plant has a variety of uses, the stems are used to create reeds for wind instruments, the stems also were once used as a form of fine grit sand paper to polish and scrub metals. Traditionally Horsetail has many holistic uses. Native Americans would boil the stalks to produce a drink they used as a diuretic to treat venereal disease. Traditionally Horsetail is used to treat kidney and bladder stones, incontinence, general disturbances of the kidney's and bladder, fluid retention, urinary tract infections and lowers blood sugar levels.
